By joining our Department of Vehicle Regulation as an Administrative Supervisor in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to plan, organize and supervise the workflow of the Tax Section, counsel and evaluate employees, and make recommendations based on business needs.
Holders of the Administrative Supervisor position will complete tasks such as:
Plans, organizes, supervises, and reviews the work of employees in the Tax Section to ensure economical and efficient operations. Approves or denies leave requests, monitors time and attendance, evaluates employee performance and other personnel related responsibilities.
Monitors and addresses performance of staff to ensure consistency and compliance according to office and departmental policies and procedures. Provides assistance with daily functions, problem solves and makes recommendations on section job functions. Conducts section training.
Utilizes tax systems to review motor carrier accounts, assist with taxpayer and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement questions and delinquencies, and work with the Office of Information Technology to identify business requirements for future system enhancements. Conducts necessary system testing.
Interprets and enforces laws, regulations, and departmental policies. Works with the section to ensure policies are followed and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are maintained.
Holders of this job will have the following experience:
Leadership, supervising others, and performance evaluations
Customer service in a business setting
Financial documents, payments, and confidential information
Enforcing and communicating policies and procedures
Providing training to others
Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:
Professional administrative experience
Experience with leading a team
Experience with enforcing office and departmental policies
Experience in time management and meeting deadlines

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of professional administrative experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master’s degree in public or business administration or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
