These programs have a direct and indirect financial impact on farmers and producers and affect the way they sell their products and develop new buyers.

Main Purpose of Job
This position provides project management and administrative support to MDA’s Agriculture and Seafood Marketing programs, ensuring effective promotion of Maryland-grown and – harvested products. By tracking key deadlines and compiling essential materials, this role helps execute initiatives like Maryland’s Best, International Marketing, and the Farmers Market Nutrition Program. It plays a vital part in maintaining organized records, assisting with marketing outreach, and supporting grant administration, all of which contribute to MDA’s mission of strengthening Maryland’s agricultural and seafood industries.
Additionally, this position manages vendor relations for marketing materials, overseeing sourcing, pricing, and production to ensure quality and timely delivery. It also maintains digital assets, campaign lists, and communication tools while assisting in the creation of promotional content. Through efficient coordination and organizational support, this role enhances MDA’s ability to connect consumers with local producers, expand market opportunities, and sustain Maryland’s farming and seafood sectors.
POSITION DUTIES
Support MDA’s Agriculture and Seafood Marketing programs, including:
Managing project timelines by gathering key dates, milestones, and deadlines from stakeholders. Plan and schedule project timelines while proactively driving and communicating deadlines to ensure compliance.
Compile and organize meeting notes as needed for project teams. Provide administrative support to the Chief of Marketing and entire Marketing program staff. Answer incoming calls to the main public line, retrieve voicemails, and direct constituents to appropriate staff.
Maintain project files, receive and distribute mail, and assist with meetings, conferences, and seminars. Prepare purchase orders, verify and process invoices for payment, and maintain payment logs.
Obtain bids and prepare source documents for Maryland’s Best, Seafood Marketing, Specialty Crop Block Grant, Certified Local Farm Enterprise Program, MFARM program, and international marketing.
Maintain and update marketing assets, contacts, and campaign lists using Google Drive, Constant Contact, and other platforms. Assist in creating marketing materials, including newsletters, flyers, and social media images.
Support the grant administrator with organization, creative input, and communication with grantees, institutions, and stakeholders.
All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess any of the following preferred qualifications. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Experience providing administrative support within a government agency.
Experience working in a position that requires exceptional organizational skills, multitasking, and time management skills.
Experience with the use of Adobe InDesign.
Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suites.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
