Job Description
We are seeking a flexible, organised and enthusiastic individual to join our busy Emergency Department as an Administration Officer. This is a casual position with the potential to transition to permanent part-time. The successful candidate must be available to work a range of shifts—including those listed below—as well as weekends and peak holiday periods.
Shift Times
- 05:00–14:00
- 08:30–16:00
- 14:00–21:00
- 16:00–01:00
In our fast-paced and high-demand ED, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate admission, discharge and billing of patients. This role suits someone who can work autonomously, manage competing priorities and support both the ED team and other Hospital departments when required.
About You
Essential Requirements
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of staff—both clinical and administrative—as well as a diverse group of patients
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Exceptional customer service abilities
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Availability for a flexible roster Monday–Sunday, between 5:00am and 1:00am (shift times may vary during holiday periods)
- Ability to work at short notice
- Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Effective teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with hospital patient administration systems or private practice software
- Understanding of private health insurance and patient billing
- Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment

Additional Information
