The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region is looking for a Administrative Assistant 1 to help usKeep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing:
As the Administrative Assistant 1, you will coordinate front office functions and provide administrative support to our M&O Chief, M&O Manager and support staff. The Administrative Assistant 1 will work on a team consisting of an Administrative Officer 2, Administrative Officer 1 and an Accounting Technician 3. The administrative support you will be providing consists of a variety of different activities such as answering calls, collecting and submitting timesheets, ordering supplies, maintaining spreadsheets, routing documents for approvals, coordinating travel, reconciling credit card transactions and assisting on personnel related activities.

Our organization, mission, and culture:
Central Region M&O is made up of nearly 200 staff who work cooperatively to maintain over 4,630 lane miles of roadway, over 250 bridges, 70 airports, and the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel. You can find us working in Anchorage, the MatSu valley, the Kenai Peninsula, and Southwest Alaska including Bethel, Dillingham, McGrath and Aniak. Our work is varied including highway maintenance, rural airport operations, tunnel operations and avalanche control.
We are the “moving” in Keep Alaska moving through service and infrastructure. Our crews intentionally trigger avalanches to keep motorists safe by releasing mountainside snow in a controlled manner, plow snow in near “white-out” conditions whether on a mountain pass or preparing a runway for an incoming medivac flight.

The working environment you can expect:
The Central Region Administration building is located on scenic Lake Hood, the busiest seaplane base in the world. Lake Hood is surrounded by a 4-mile-long walking/biking trail where many employees can be spotted during lunch.
Maintenance and Operations (M&O) is divided into 4 districts and the headquarters office. Each district is responsible for maintaining highways and operating airports within their district. The districts are Anchorage, MatSu, Kenai Peninsula and Southwest Alaska. We strive to create a collaborative ‘team’ work environment. The M&O environment is fast paced with frequently changing conditions. Priorities change in an instant and the successful applicant will be able to change along with them.
