Job Responsibilities

The Human Resource Management department at Midlands Technical College is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Administrative Assistant to support daily operations and enhance the employee experience. The Administrative Assistant will serve as a key point of contact within HR, providing high-level administrative support and assisting with a variety of functions including employee communications, records management, and coordination of HR activities. This position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating office operations, supporting recruitment and onboarding processes, assisting with documentation and data management, and responding to employee inquiries with professionalism and care. The role also involves working closely with team members across the college, requiring strong interpersonal skills and a welcoming, customer-focused approach.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines. Experience using systems such as Microsoft Office and HR platforms is beneficial, along with the ability to adapt to evolving processes and support continuous improvement efforts within the department.

This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.

Ability to think critically. Ability to multitask and take initiative. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Ellucian Colleague. Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public. Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
