The Role
As the Executive Assistant, you’ll serve as the high-level administrative support to our President/CEO. You’ll be their right-hand person, managing scheduling, meeting minutes, email correspondence, and other various administrative tasks. Handling confidential and authoritative information regularly is a big part of the job. This position will be responsible for working in-office Monday-Friday and the occasional evenings and weekends for events.

As a nonprofit, we all wear many hats, so as an Executive Assistant you’ll need to be comfortable with a fast-paced and evolving environment. You will need to be highly resourceful, self-sufficient, organized and detail oriented. In addition to our President/CEO, you’ll be providing support to our Board of Directors, Executive Team, Human Resources and all levels of staff as needed. Our Executive Assistant plays an integral role in the overall successful operation of HSC through ordering, planning meetings and events as well as support to others through a list of ever-changing duties. The CEO
Our CEO has been in the Animal Welfare field for over 40 years and has been the CEO at HSC for 15 years. While leading our organization she is also recognized nationally and participates in other external boards, committees, consultations and professional groups. Our CEO is not only passionate about animal welfare and our community but is an open and inspiring leader with a passion for development.

The Ideal Candidate

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or 2 years of experience as an Executive Assistant.
Enthusiasm for the mission of the Humane Society of Charlotte and helping both pets and people in our community.
Strong computer skills, proficient in MS Office, and database management software experience.
Proactively and consistently demonstrate friendly, engaging dialogue with event attendees, visitors, donors, volunteers, board members and committee members.
Respect confidentiality of issues and materials often associated with the Executive Office.
React with the appropriate level of urgency; see tasks and projects through to completion regardless of challenge or obstacles.
Self-motivated, well organized, detail oriented, and able to effectively work independently and within a team framework.
Must be willing to work flexible hours when needed, including evenings and weekends.
Must have a reliable mode of transportation, valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Must be comfortable interacting with dogs and cats.

HSC has been around for over 46 years, then in 1982 we became the first low cost spay/neuter clinic to open in the southeast US! HSC moved into our brand-new Animal Resource Center.
