What you will be doing:

Start or continue your administrative journey with us in the Department of Health (DOH) Assistant Commissioner’s Office (ACO). You will provide technical support to our Division in areas such as financial, human resource, office and property management, as well as basic procurement, travel arrangement, calendar scheduling, and office supply inventory. You will perform tasks independently, prioritize work assignments, and demonstrate initiative for identifying needed improvements in the operation of the administrative functions while coordinating with other offices, divisions and teams.

Who we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas of knowledge, skill, and ability:

Considerable knowledge of administrative functions necessary to support the operations of a business, such as personnel, purchasing and inventory, accounts payable/receivable, and financial monitoring.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to compare data from a variety of sources for accuracy and completeness, identify discrepancies, and make corrections.

Skill in the use of computers for maintaining financial data and for maintaining customer information, word processing, or similar office activities.

Ability to assess situations accurately and to take prompt, effective action.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of entry-level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement. This experience includes work such as Administrative Assistant 1, Accounting Technician 1, Human Resource Technician 1, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer…
