Position: Administrative Assistant FLSA: Non-Exempt
Status: Full-Time

General Summary:
Under the direction of the Administration or other assigned manager, is responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support and for performing other varied functions as necessary in a school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the school’s spiritual and pastoral mission.

Shall abide by Catholic principles in the employee’s professional and private life.

Works collaboratively in a positive, friendly, and professional manner with all parish, school, and diocesan employees.

Displays personal initiative, coordinates, facilitates, and provides timely and accurate administrative support.

Maintains and respects the privacy of the persons supported.

Helps maintain the calendar of events, scheduling events as needed.

Provides necessary staff support to staff and others as requested.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Must have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church; be in full communion with the Church.

Excellent communications skills, verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.

Exercise courtesy to fellow employees and the general public.

Must be a self-starter, well organized, and able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must at all times.

Proficiency in computer technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.

Professional bearing and clean personal appearance.

Ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check.

Education

/

Experience:

Two to five years of experience in a high activity environment as an administrative assistant or secretary, or equivalent.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal office environment. Required activities include walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
