Role Description
This is a volunteer unpaid Administrative Assistant role based in Greater Manchester. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support, handling phone calls with appropriate etiquette, maintaining communication with internal and external stakeholders, and using clerical skills to support day-to-day operations.
Working directly with the Secretary of an award-winning charity, responsibilities include:
Processing Membership Applications
Monitoring Passenger Bookings (with support from two other volunteers during busy periods)
Suitable candidates will have:
Strong keyboard and communication skills
Familiarity with email, Microsoft Word, and Excel spreadsheets
Applications from disabled or wheelchair-dependent individuals are encouraged. Most enquiries come via internet or telephone, so home-based candidates are ideal.
Commitment:
Initially 3-4 hours per week during winter months, increasing to approximately 7-8 hours per week in summer.
Involvement in “Sail with Santa” bookings (December) managed by an external agency, assisting in monitoring bookings and preparing, wrapping, and labelling gifts for children.

East Manchester Community Boat Project (EMCBP) was established in 1994 to provide free outings for disabled or disadvantaged children and adults. The organisation has received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service for its outstanding community volunteer work. EMCBP welcomes passenger groups from all backgrounds, offering free trips for individuals and corporate away days in exchange for a reasonable donation.

Administrative assistance and executive administrative assistance skills
Strong phone etiquette and communication skills
Clerical skills
Excellent organisational and time management abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Previous experience in a similar role preferred
Attention to detail and ability to multitask
