The City of South Lake Tahoe Airport is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Administrative Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of airport administration. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in an airport environment and will be knowledgeable in FAA processes, including grants, Requests for Quotes (RFQ), Requests for Proposals (RFP), and Requests for Bids (RFB). Key responsibilities include assisting with hangar tenant applications and management, supporting grant documentation and submissions, and coordinating administrative processes related to FAA-funded projects. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Identifying Characteristics:
The Administrative Assistant is an advanced journey level class within the administrative support series. Positions at this level provide a variety of complex, responsible, and confidential secretarial and administrative support to an assigned function and staff. Incumbents relieve assigned staff of detailed administrative work, and are expected to function with very little direct oversight and with a great deal of sensitivity. This position provides administrative support to a department in areas such as budget, personnel, or a departmental program or function and secretarial support to a department head. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.

Typical Qualifications

Education/Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized course work in public administration, business administration, or a related field is desirable.

Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible administrative, secretarial, and clerical experience involving frequent public contact.

License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid California or Nevada driver’s license may be required for some positions.
