Description
The City of Richmond Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Administrative Technician, Senior to work within the Data Quality unit.
The selected candidate will provide internal and external customer service, handling telephone inquiries and serving the public at the service window in the lobby at Police Headquarters when needed. This role requires a candidate with strong customer service skills, attention to detail, to handle sensitive information responsibly and interact with the public in a tactful, professional manner. The candidate should have the ability to interpret report narratives as it relates to Incident Base Reporting and error correction.
Duties include but are not limited to
Provide customer service directly to specific clients assigned
Assist customers with researching inquiries on incident and accident reports
Creating invoices
Collect fees via cash or check
VCIN Certification
Process criminal history
Collect, coordinate and organize all incoming and outgoing mail
Issue high-quality copy and printed documents
Prepare daily reports
Provide internal and external communications with departments and other agencies
Assist with fingerprinting applicant customers
Prepare SP-236 Sex Offender Registry form and mail
Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge of Group A and B Offense
Successful completion of an interview, thorough background investigation, which may include a polygraph exam and drug/alcohol screening, is required. Please note that the Police Department background process may take up to 45 – 60 days. An applicant disqualified from the Police background process may reapply a year after disqualification.
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED
Three years of related clerical or office support experience.
An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of Level I VSP UCR – IBR (Uniform Crime Reporting – Incident-Based Reporting)
Knowledge of NIBRS/CJIS (National Incident-Based Reporting System/Criminal Justice Information Services
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
TYPICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: These are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.
Knowledge (some combination of the following):
English language and grammar
Experience with standard office equipment such as office machines, multi-line phone, computers, copier, fax, scanning machine, etc.
Experience with software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Basic arithmetic calculations and mathematics
Administrative and clerical procedures such as word processing, managing files and records, and designing forms and business principles
Skills (some combination of the following):
Entering data accurately
Maintaining confidentiality
Utilizing critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems
Demonstrating excellent customer service
Abilities (some combination of the following):
Follow established procedures
