JOB SUMMARY
As a joint administrative position, this position serves as the front-facing person for both Research on Resilient Cities, Racism, and Equity (RRCRE) and the Office of the State Historian. The administrator will work as a liaison to community and university partners, ensuring efficient and proper workflow and communication are maintained in advancing the mission and vision of the units. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, reliable, and a people-focused person, competent in prioritizing and working with minimal supervision.
A federally designated Minority Serving Institution, UConn Hartford serves approximately 1,600 undergraduate students and 1,600 graduate students, including majority first-generation and students-of-color cohorts. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Makes travel arrangements, processes travel requests and reimbursements.
Monitors office supply inventory and coordinates maintenance for office equipment.
Maintains and monitors the unit budget and records. Monitors and approves routine expenditures and processes reimbursement requests.
Assists in the maintenance and modification of complex filing and record keeping systems, pursuant to state record retention policies.
Schedules and arranges meetings.
Performs various office tasks, including printing and photocopying.
Stays abreast of changes to university policies and procedures and provides education and outreach regarding policies.
Assists with research projects, using skills such as database searches.
Serves as point of contact between RRCRE to community.
Co-edits and distributes RRCRE Newsletter.
Handles front desk registration and event RSVP at the XL Center.
Assists with data entry for The Hartford Project.
Serves as point of contact between the Office of the State Historian to other UConn units.
Co-edits H-Connecticut listserv.
Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree and years requirement.)
Two years of related experience. (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree and years requirement.)
Knowledge of database management and organization.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and related software applications.
Knowledge of notetaking and recordkeeping systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in higher education or a community organization environment.
Experience in website management.
Experience in database management.
Familiarity with Concur.
Ability to effectively manage multiple, simultaneous projects and programs.
Interest or experience working in an urban setting.
