Duties and Responsibilities
1. * Processes of fiscal transactions for the College of Engineering in accordance with UH, state, federal, RCUH, and other sponsor guidelines.
2. * Formulates department budgets, i.e., projecting future expenditures, collective bargaining increases, and other budget-related considerations.
3. * Prepares fiscal and personnel reports for internal and external inquiries.
4.* Ensures accuracy and compliance with all applicable UH, state, federal, RCUH, collective bargaining, and other sponsor guidelines policies and procedures.
5. * Prepares fiscal documents, i.e., requisitions, purchase orders, payment documents, etc. in compliance with UH, state, federal, RCUH, and other sponsor guidelines.
6. * Provides background information, analysis, and recommendations to resolve issues and problems – related to fiscal management.
7. * Reconciles and tracks general, special, RTRF, and extramural and institutional accounts to record expenditures and maintain account balances.
8. * Provides support with personnel documents, i.e., employment forms, health benefits, etc., in compliance with UH, state, federal, RCUH, and other sponsor guidelines.
9. * Provides support with personnel transactions related to hiring, continuation of employment, and termination of employees.
10. * Provides administrative support services to the College of Engineering.
11. Reviews and approves grant proposals to ensure consistency with UH Office of Research Services (ORS).
12. Provides guidance to faculty regarding proposal spending plans to ensure that plans are consistent and in compliance with UH, state, federal, RCUH and sponsor guidelines.
13. Maintains record-keeping of Business Office paper and digital files.
14. Maintains the Business Office website as well as other web-based communication tools.

Education and Professional Work Experience
1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics or related field and 3 (three) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for accounting, fiscal, procurement, and/or grants management experience or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of accounting, fiscal, procurement and/or grants management experience as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standards and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
2. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with accounting, fiscal, procurement, and/or grants management experience.
3. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
4. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
6. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software and various software to prepare documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
7. If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.

1. Ability to prioritize and organize tasks to meet scheduled deadlines
Desirable Qualifications
1. Prior experience with working at an institution of higher education or a government.
2. Prior experience with UH accounting systems such as KFS.
3. Knowledge of grants administration.
