Title: Executive Assistant & Human Resource Generalist
Department: Administration
Position reports to: Executive Director
Status: Exempt; Salaried; Full-time
SUMMARY: The Executive Assistant & Human Resource Generalist will have two key responsibilities: developing and implementing Human Resource functions and serving as an Executive Assistant to the Executive Director. This position is critical to supporting the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society’s mission and aligning its people strategies with organizational growth objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Executive Assistant to the Executive Director (30%)
Provide high-level administrative support to the Executive Director.
Manage the Executive Director’s calendar and email correspondence.
Schedule and prepare for all SFAHS-related meetings.
Compile and distribute the Board of Directors meeting packet; attend board meetings and maintain accurate minutes.
Record and maintain minutes for leadership meetings.
Prepare meeting agendas, order refreshments, and arrange gifts as needed.
Track anniversaries and other significant calendar dates.
Human Resource Generalist (70%)
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment:
Proactively source and recruit top talent, managing the full recruitment cycle from job posting to onboarding.
Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure equitable candidate assessments.
Compensation and Benefits:
Administer team member benefits and ensure effective communication.
Assist leadership with compensation analysis to structure competitive packages.
Champion a total rewards strategy to enhance engagement and satisfaction.
Team Member Relations and Engagement:
Serve as a trusted advisor to team members and managers, fostering inclusivity and collaboration.
Address team member concerns with discretion and balance.
Onboarding and HRIS Management:
Design engaging onboarding programs to set up new hires for success.
Ensure accurate team member data management in the HRIS (BambooHR).
Provide insightful reports for leadership decision-making.
Training and Development:
Partner with leadership to foster continuous learning through tailored training programs.
Performance Management:
Manage performance reviews and support meaningful feedback processes.
Compliance and Policy Management:
Ensure HR practices comply with all legal requirements and align with best practices.
Health, Wellness, and Succession Planning:
Promote team member wellbeing through wellness initiatives.
Collaborate on succession planning to ensure organizational readiness.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Other duties may be assigned to assist SFAHS in the mission to be a safe haven and human voice for all animals in need.

Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least two years of HR experience.
SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and HRIS systems.
Physical Capabilities Required
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
Prolonged periods of desk work and computer use.
Comfort working in a shelter environment with animal sounds and odors.

WORK SCHEDULE:
In-office, Monday – Friday 8am- 5pm
