Job Description:
The Folger Shakespeare Library, located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, is seeking a Marketing and Administrative Coordinator to join the Marketing and Communications team. This individual, under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications, will manage the Marketing and Communication Director’s calendar and email, provide administrative support for department and institution-wide activities, provide project support for various marketing initiatives, and maintain various marketing datasets, tools, and project plans.

The Marketing and Administrative Coordinator plays a critical role in the Marketing and Communications team’s work. The Marketing and Administrative Coordinator will provide administrative support to the department to keep many projects on track, coordinate or participate in collaborative projects, and serve as a keeper and conveyer of information for the division. They will be expected to develop and build positive working relationships within the department, with external stakeholders, and with other departments at the Folger.

The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 9:30am-5:30pm. This position will occasionally have extra evening and weekend hours with scheduled programs and marketing events at the Folger and offsite. This position will work primarily on-site with openness to hybrid modality when not assisting with in-person duties onsite or at other venues in the DMV. The selected candidate will need to be within a commutable distance to the D.C. office (DC, MD, VA) by their start date.

Compensation:
This is a weekly-paid hourly position at a rate of $27.47-28.57 per hour and a 35-hour work week. This role is eligible for overtime pay over 40 hours/week.
Total compensation includes an extensive benefits plan, including a generous 403b contribution and match, outlined on our

Duties:
Supports the Director of Marketing and Communications in maintaining the director’s calendar, monitoring and responding to emails, and setting up meetings. Undertakes research and drafts correspondence as needed.
Coordinates the administrative aspects of department’s work, including scheduling, supporting online and onsite events and meetings; answering general inquiries, managing all technology involved, communicating with event leaders and participants, and when needed, arranging housing and transportation.
Assists with the creation and distribution of all Letters of Agreement or Contracts related to work done on behalf of the department.
Processes invoices and payments for the department and helps monitor individual project budgets and the department’s budget.
Assists in maintaining Folger website including uploading content and creating event pages on the Folger’s website in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.
Tracks and compiles lists of events in the DMV as possible marketing touchpoints for the Folger. Keeps track of pricing, deadlines, and specification for organizations to participate and leads staffing of events on behalf of the Folger.
Distributes marketing collateral in the community.
Acts as communication liaison between Marketing and Communications team and external partners including universities and influencers.
In collaboration with Marketing and Communication staff, responsible for department’s content entry to Folger’s monthly internal newsletter.
Coordinates the department’s communication calendar and participates in the creation of our communications to mailing lists. Additionally, maintains and keeps current department databases, mailing lists, and email lists.
Supports the team in creation and posting of Folger social media content.
Writes and edits for the website, programs, magazine, and other collateral as needed.

Education and Experience:
B.A degree or equivalent, with a background in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or Digital Media desirable.
At least two years of experience working in an administrative capacity is strongly desired.
Prior experience working with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and diverse experiences required.
Demonstrated management of assigned projects, budget tracking, and administrative work required.
History of responsibility over projects, tasks, and relationships.

Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills needed.
Ability to communicate directly and effectively with both internal staff and external stakeholders.
Strong writing skills, with the ability to quickly produce clean copy for various media.
Ability to multi-task and juggle shifting priorities; ability to work under pressure of deadlines.
Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work.
Must be able to work independently and work collaboratively as part of a team; understand the importance of collaboration.
Demonstrable computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, and attention to detail required.
Experience with WordPress and/or Tessitura desirable, but not required.
Familiarity with marketing terminology and KPIs.

This job operates in a professional office environment. Normal work week is Monday-Friday, 9:30am-5:30pm. Additional evening and weekend hours required for special programs.

Capacity to communicate, in person using video, phone, or electronic communication methods, which can be understood by others.
