Dakota State University’s Office of the President is seeking a highly organized and professional individual to serve as Assistant to the President, providing executive-level administrative support in a fast-paced, high-profile environment. In this role, you will work closely with university executives, the South Dakota Board of Regents, public officials, faculty, staff, and students to advance the President’s agenda and institutional priorities. Your responsibilities will span executive office management, strategic project oversight, event planning, risk management, government relations, and campus engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Office Operations: Oversee the daily functions of the Office of the President. Manage complex scheduling, travel arrangements, correspondence, and internal/external communications. Maintain systems that support efficiency, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Strategic Initiatives and Project Oversight: Lead or support high-priority institutional projects aligned with DSU’s strategic plan. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and provide reporting on timelines, milestones, and outcomes using data-informed insights.
Executive-Level Event Coordination: Plan and execute presidential and campus-wide events in partnership with departments such as Marketing, Advancement, Athletics, and Research. Manage logistics, communications, and event strategy to reflect DSU’s values and institutional identity.
Emergency Preparedness and Risk Management: Coordinate preparedness and continuity planning across departments. Facilitate drills and ensure documentation and protocols are in place.
Government and Public Relations: Act as liaison between the President and local, state, and federal officials and agencies. Support institutional advocacy efforts and ensure smooth communication with public bodies.
Presidential Engagement and Representation: Represent the President at campus events, forums, and internal meetings. Help ensure coordination across academic and administrative units and promote unified executive messaging.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
Demonstrated experience managing executive-level operations and communications.
Strong leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Experience in project management, event planning, and high-level coordination.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with project management or data visualization tools preferred.
Outstanding communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
