ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Public Works Department is committed to enhancing the standard of living in Phoenix through the effective provision of exceptional solid waste, fleet, facilities, and energy management services. The Solid Waste Division is seeking a Support Services Aide to support various tasks such as complex clerical, accounting, dispatching, and inventory work, along with delivering excellent customer service.

The Solid Waste Support Services Aide’s responsibilities include:

Creating and maintaining computerized databases, updating multiple spreadsheets, and processing invoices.
Tracking work orders and requests for service, performing payroll functions, providing general clerical support, and scheduling equipment use.
Map reading, compiling statistics, preparing periodic summary reports for management, and using base radios and telephones to transmit and receive information.

The position will provide administrative support functions, which include answering phone calls from internal and external customers, receiving, writing, and processing e-mails, inputting information into a database, tracking staff time and work completion, processing monthly invoices for services delivered, working in Microsoft Word and Excel, and other administrative tasks that are required for the daily operation of the section.

SALARY

Pay Range: $17.72 – $35.08 per hour.

Hiring Range: $17.72 – $26.18 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of responsible clerical work experience which provides the ability to maintain a variety of financial and related records, perform basic mathematical computations, operate base radios/telephone equipment, order and dispense supplies and materials, and deal with the public.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
Positions assigned to work within Police Department buildings and facilities must meet the background standards that are appropriate to non-sworn positions. The general factors for disqualification are listed here.
Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

Experience in/with:
Working with Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher and Outlook.
Providing quality customer service.
Clerical work including computer/data entry, multi-phone lines, ordering and invoicing.
Inventory management.
Records management, including maintaining paper and electronic files.
Communicating with staff and public using basic radios and/or telephones.
