Description of Work

This position is an Administrative Associate II and reports to the Associate Warden/Custody as well as Correctional Captains, Lieutenants and Sergeants. Confidentiality is a must. Responsibilities include:

Effectively maintain files/records according to departmental policy to allow quick, easy access and retrieval of information requested.
Compose memos/letters with limited instruction from supervisor.
Proofread documents for spelling/punctuation/grammar.
Serve as the recorder for the Disciplinary Hearing Officer which involves frequent contact with staff and offenders.
Input and comprehend computer generated data.
Review completed tasks to ensure accuracy/integrity of information.
Work under stressful conditions in meeting daily/monthly deadlines.
Maintain confidentiality.
Work well independently as well as with other staff.
Communicate with staff in other departments to obtain information timely, compiling all necessary paperwork and other job duties requested by supervisor or management.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC02. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

About Franklin Correctional Center:
Franklin Correctional Center is located in Bunn, NC, Franklin County and is a medium custody male facility housing approximately 136 offenders. Special programs at this facility include Enterprise Sign Plant, High School Equivalency, Employment Readiness, Adult Outreach Correspondence, Thinking for a Change, Father Accountability, Commercial Driving License, Business, Hospitality, Commercial Cleaning, Industrial Maintenance, Logistics & Distribution, Computer Application.
