Educational And Experience Requirement
Associates degree in Business, Business Administration, Mass Communications, or related field. Four years of relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose Of Position
Performs complex administration support duties for the Department of Public Health.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs complex administrative support duties for the Department of Public Health. Executes faculty workload reports. Works with the Department Chair to manage the department’s budget, internal grants, and other financial resources. Processes faculty, staff, and student hiring processes, Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs), and scheduling interviews and completing all hiring documentation. Works with the Department Chair to enter and manage course scheduling for the department. Manages all faculty, staff, and student travel processing for the department. Works with the Department Chair to manage all purchasing for the department. Provides departmental or university information to students, departments, faculty and staff. Schedules appointments and activities for the Department of Public Health. Compiles, tracks, and reviews data and reports. Prepares, reviews, revises, and distributes documents and correspondence for and on behalf of the Department of Public Health. Performs e-mail communication, phone calls, budget analysis, and report preparation. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Requires a general knowledge of standard University functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard Microsoft Office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive and, at times, complex nature. Works with College of Health Sciences faculty, staff, and students, as well as other campus departments.
