General Summary:

The Administrative Assistant in the Domestic Violence Bureau functions as a legal assistant for the protective order prosecutors. This role involves drafting legal pleadings, coordinating witness appearances for court, and preparing dockets and evidence for the protective order prosecutors. The Administrative Assistant works closely with the family court and law enforcement agencies to coordinate and secure service of respondents. Additional responsibilities include assisting prosecutors with docket preparation, re-filing pleadings, gathering evidence, processing mail, answering phones, and fulfilling evidentiary requests. Strong organizational skills are essential for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare and electronically file legal pleadings
Manage service updates and assist with docket preparation
Communicate with applicants and provide follow-up support
Support court proceedings and maintain accurate documentation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proficient in basic computer software
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
Effective communication and customer service skills when interacting with the public and internal staff

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

This is a full time, in-person position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary based on the business needs of the department.

Required Education / Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required
At least 2 years of experience in a criminal justice, legal, or related environment (preferred).

Salary (Starting):

$22.08 hourly / $3,827.20 monthly / $45,926.40 annually
$27.18 hourly / $4,711.20 monthly / $56,534.40 annually with college degree
