Job Description:
PURPOSE OF JOB:
Responsible for financial and clerical operations of the department as it relates to Joint Commission, Medicare regulations, and corporate compliance. Responsible for the coordination and operation of the office.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Supports the hospice department by providing clerical support with focus on data entry and tracking of patient information for referrals, admissions, discharges, recertification, and changes in level of care into the computer system. (20%)
B. Demonstrates excellent medical records management in order to assure timely billing, ready access to records and all standards and regulations related to information management is met. (20%)
C. Demonstrates in depth understanding of the Hospice computer system and assists with implementation of regulatory changes
related to same. Compiles and runs reports needed for hospice operations and verifies dates and information for vendors and contracted services. (20%)
D. Excellence in communication with internal and external customers and associates via phone, email, Tiger Text, and written work
in order to achieve outstanding customer service. (20%)
E. Responsible for all accounts payable processing and entry of charges into medical record. (10%)
F. Responsible for document and order tracking to ensure timely billing. (10%)
Job Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: High School graduate. Familiarity with computer data entry and billing procedures.
B. Experience: Work experience in healthcare, preferably Hospice, with a focus on financial
functions and computer operations. Working knowledge of billing, accounts receivables,
and demonstrates understanding of hospice reimbursement issues.
C. Other Skills: Excellent computer and organizational skills. Detail focused.
Effective communication skills. Good mathematical, grammatical and communication skills. Good
typing ability. Tact and diplomacy in handling patient inquiries and Associates. Efficient time management.Show more
