Job Summary
Temple Beth David seeks a dedicated, motivated and engaging individual to join our team. The Office Administrator works closely with staff, clergy, educators, and volunteers to support the functions of daily synagogue life, with a high regard for detail and quality. Responsibilities include office administration, financial, programming and communications support.

About Temple Beth David

Temple Beth David is a Reform congregation of approximately 260 families in Westwood, MA. We seek to engage our members in meaningful Jewish expression and community. Our diverse membership draws from the surrounding areas.

Duties

Assist with day-to-day operation of the temple including daily administrative tasks; organize office supplies and monitor inventory, greet people, answer the phone, make copies, manage mail and filing, help create a welcoming environment.
Assist with preparing weekly email messages.
Provide logistical support for services, holidays, and lifecycles.
Prepare donation acknowledgements.
Maintain accounting records in QuickBooks.
Prepare year-end donor receipts.
Enter charges and payments for membership, early learning center tuition, religious school tuition, and donations. Prepare bank deposits and record in database.
Prepare member and early learning center statements.
Set up card payments according to payment plans.
Help create fliers and other materials.
Provide administrative support for our vibrant youth education programs including our Shalom Corner preschool and our K-12 religious school.
Provide administrative support to clergy, educators, staff and treasurer.
Help update the calendar and website.
Support sign-ups, registrations for events, and payments.

NEED TO HAVE’S

Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong computer skills are essential, including proficiency with Google Workspace (GMail, Drive, etc.), QuickBooks.
Familiarity with data management software (we use ShulCloud)
Administrative experience

NICE TO HAVE’S

Bachelor’s degree
Previous office administrative experience and/or bookkeeping/accounting
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and ShulCloud (synagogue management software)
Experience in a school and/or synagogue setting
Familiarity with Jewish customs

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (we are flexible and seeking to find the right fit for both the temple and the candidate). Approximately 30-40 hours/week. Ideal hours are weekdays 9:30am-5:30pm with more flexibility on M/Th/F.
Salary: Dependent upon position type. Commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Benefits are dependent upon full-time or part-time status. Both position statuses include vacation, sick time, and a set schedule for federal and Jewish holiday closures. If full-time, you also receive access to an optional health insurance stipend.

Pay: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
