Salary Recruitment Range: $37,782-$42,000
Salary Grade: NC08

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Primary Purpose of this Position:
Field incoming phone calls to the agent service division regarding licensing questions, financial/continuing education questions, Public Records Requests, and complaints against licensed individuals or business entities. This position also assists in processing referred license applications received from the department’s third-party vendor who screens initial license applications and refers those which do not meet the licensing requirements or who have answered a disqualifying question. This position sets up complaint or inquiry files for the Compliance Section and assists the Licensing Manager with licensing issues, special projects and complete all other duties as assigned based on the business needs of the Division.

Considerable knowledge of services, policies and procedures related to a program or area of
specialization.
Ability to demonstrate and apply this knowledge in performance of administrative tasks; ability to
explain and interpret information to clients/customers and staff.
Considerable knowledge of program policies, procedures and information systems in order to
communicate and process information.
Ability to compile, assimilate and organize both printed and electronic information; ability to apply
knowledge of data collection, storage, organization, manipulation and/or analysis of data.
Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet
organizational needs.
Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; use effective approaches for
choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.
Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.
Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form; ability to adjust language or
terminology to meet the needs of the audience; ability to use correct grammar, organization, and
structure.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Managment Preferences

At least 2 years of customer service or call center experience.
Basic experience comprehending and reviewing professional license applications and background reports.
Basic understanding of insurance concepts.
