The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.
Takes applications for child support services by conducting initial interviews with incoming applicants.
Reviews client applications and provides basic program information. Obtain as much accurate information as possible. Schedules the client’s first appointment with the agent, performs an initial search for the noncustodial parent, and sends out initial location documents.
Performs case searches for legal documents at the courthouse, copying and scanning said documents into the system to ensure proper filing and prevention of lost information; assists Child Support Agents in determining how to best process cases for needed services. Notarizes legal documents for Agents
Transports documents to and from the Courthouse and Sheriff’s departments, required to complete legal/court actions needed to establish and enforce child support orders.
Accurately enters all incoming mail response data from employer and post office verification letters by keying information into ACTS, scans documents into Compass computer systems to ensure quick processing of cases. Sorts and distributes all Child Support mail. Prepares the majority of Child Support outgoing mail.
Creates/sets up all physical child support records using ACTS, MIC, Compass systems. Maintains the file room by pulling case records that need reopened, files, and scans or prints records that have closed. Purges closed records according to County, State, and federal guidelines, and prepares for destruction.
Provides routine information to the general public about Social Service functions and procedures by answering general questions from incoming calls or routing calls to the correct agent. Researches and routes clients to appropriate programs for services. Utilizing ACTS, NC Fast, Compass, MCI, and other systems to scan documents into electronic records.
Certified as a DNA sample collector and serves as backup to DNA Agents if needed. Must be available to work mandatory emergency shelters & other duties as assigned
Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent
A minimum of 3 years of experience involving word processing, computerized data entry, receptionist, and records management functions. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Valid drivers license
Notary Public license is preferred.
The applicant selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
