Administrative Supervisor-Pre Analytical Outpatient – MT/MLT (ASCP) or equivalent:
This position will oversee the operations and staff involved in the outpatient pre-analytical phase of laboratory testing supporting a 580+ bed hospital. This includes specimen collection, labeling, processing, and data entry before laboratory analysis. They ensure that all procedures comply with regulatory standards, maintain quality control, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise in the workflow. Additionally, they are responsible for training staff, managing schedules, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the lab’s pre-analytical section.
Must have excellent verbal and communication skills. They will have frequent interaction with others in the Laboratory and other departments in person, by telephone or by email, to resolve issues with patient care that are impacted by laboratory testing. Must be able to manage and diffuse situations due to the emotional and/or emergency nature of patient care, some customers may be unpleasant, angry or discourteous in their requests for Laboratory services.

Skill Requirements:
- Managing and authoring processes and procedures

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Evaluating laboratory operations consulting with pathologists; reporting results according to protocols mandated by the hospital and public health department
- Ensuring maintenance of medical laboratory equipment performance by developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance; certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair
- Maintaining medical laboratory supplies inventory, determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies
- Maintaining laboratory productivity, monitoring workload, identifying peak and slack periods
- Participating in the hospital quality assurance program; consulting with pathologists; performing proficiency surveys; reviewing QC & QA programs
- Maintaining medical laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training employees, counseling, reviewing/evaluating and disciplining employees as needed
- Complying with state and professional continuing education licensure requirements
- Contributing to benchwork as needed
Education, Certification, & Experience:
- Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) with certification as a clinical laboratory scientist or medical technologist by one of the nationally recognized certification agencies:
- Five years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting required
- Three + years of previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
OR
- Baccalaureate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MT) with certification as a clinical laboratory scientist or medical technologist by one of the nationally recognized certification agencies:
- Three years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting required
- One + years of previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
