Full Job Description

Duties

Serve as Area Office receptionist; route and screen incoming calls, record messages, provide administrative and technical information to callers, refers visitors to the appropriate staff.

Process all incoming/outgoing mail received at the Area Office; assist staff in interpreting instructions and establishing follow-up action of incoming correspondence, utilize electronic filing system to organize correspondence records.

Serve as meeting recorder for staff meetings and consultations; record minutes, prepare and maintain lists of assignments made during staff meetings.

Review outgoing correspondence for completeness, accuracy, conformance to style and format policies and free of grammatical and spelling errors.

Utilize several types of software to create mailing lists, develop tracking spreadsheets, presentations, and maintain files and records.

You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation.

You must maintain a valid State Driver’s License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads. Failure to maintain a valid State Driver’s License at all times will result in removal from the position.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement – this information must be clearly supported in the resume.

GS-06:
Specialized Experience:One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the GS-05 level; or its non-Federal equivalent that includes experience performing receptionist duties such as routing phone calls; reviewing outgoing correspondence for grammatical and spelling accuracy and adherence to format policies; maintaining electronic records; and providing sound customer service and support to internal and external customers.

This position requires a qualified typist who can type at least 40 words per minute.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 04/01/2024.

Education

This position does not allow substituting education for experience.

You may be required to serve an initial probationary period. Current, permanent Federal employees who are selected from this announcement may be required to serve a probationary period.

Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and you may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
