Salary: $3,705 – $5,066 ($3,952 – $5,419 PERS)

We are seeking an Accountability Redesign Administrative Specialist to join our Office of Education Innovation and Improvement at the
Oregon Department of Education
. This is a limited duration position represented by the
Service Employees International Union (SEIU)
. This position funded through June 30, 2025 and is anticipated to be extended pending funding approval.
Current State of Oregon Employees are eligible to apply as a job rotation or work out of class opportunity. What you will do!

The primary purpose of this position is to provide critical support to leadership in advancing accountability, strategic planning, legislative implementation efforts, and cross-team collaboration.

Typical duties include:
Administrative and Program Support: providing administrative assistance by responding to inquiries, organizing meetings and training, preparing meeting materials and agendas, and drafting reports and documentation for internal and external use.
Project Coordination and Communication: coordinating calendars, meetings, and communications between internal teams and external partners. Supporting strategic projects run smoothly by keeping team members informed and communicating clearly.
Process Improvement and Research Support: assisting in evaluating current policies, procedures, and legislation by conducting research and recommending improvements to enhance education programs and resources.

Minimum Qualifications (Need to Have)

Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR

An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum qualifications must be met to qualify for this position.
Desired Attributes (Nice to Have):
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment including the ability to make decisions based on established guidelines, especially in the absence of direct supervision.
Excellent communication skills including experience drafting reports, preparing presentations, taking minutes, and interacting with diverse partners including school districts, advocacy groups, and internal leadership.
Excellent customer service skills including the ability to provide support and technical assistance to external and internal partners.
Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and data platforms (ex: access and smartsheet) for tracking program performance and generating reports.
Experience compiling, reviewing, and evaluating data to support program effectiveness and decision-making.
Strong organizational skills including managing meetings, calendars, and documentation with high attention to detail and efficiency.
Familiarity with Oregon Revised Statutes, Administrative Rules, and education policies is preferred but not required.

Salary Range: The range listed is the Non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.
