Arlington County’s Regional Older Adult Facilities Mental Health Support Team (RAFT) has an opportunity for an Administrative Specialist to become part of an innovative and forward-thinking team. This grant-funded position is part of the Department of Human Services , Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD). RAFT provides intensive multidisciplinary mental health treatment to adults 65 and older discharged or diverted from state psychiatric institutions to local long-term care facilities throughout Northern Virginia. Staff is available for 24/7 on-call support to clients and partnering facilities.

This position will provide administrative and supportive services that organize/standardize/support operational functions of a community based intensive mental health and dementia support treatment team that serves 5 Northern Virginia counties. This position will focus on performing administrative tasks and allow clinical staff to focus on direct client care with individuals in long-term care settings.

Specific duties include:
Assisting in planning, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring the work of the unit;
Researching and compiling information and statistics;
Supporting RAFT Team by collecting information and processing financial assessments;
Scanning documents into Electronic Health Record for individual clients;
Auditing Electronic Health Record to ensure scanned documents are accurately posted;
Ensuring RAFT vehicles are maintained according to County policy and schedules;
Collecting data for reports related to metrics and outcomes: Performance Measure Plans, State Performance Contract, Satisfaction Surveys, new RAFT initiatives and pilot projects; and
Developing PowerPoint presentations, marketing materials, virtual presentations and newsletters.

The ideal candidate has experience performing a variety of administrative tasks, setting priorities, maintaining confidentiality, and possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills. The employee in this position will interact with various customers to include older adults with mental health diagnoses.

Minimum:

Completion of the requirements for graduation from a standard senior high school or vocational school, a GED certificate, or the equivalent.
Considerable experience performing administrative support, preferably in related program area.

Substitution: Successful completion of college coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses
Mental Health Training
Experience working with older adults

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must possess, or obtain by the time of appointment, a valid motor vehicle operator’s license from the applicant’s place of residence or the applicant must have the ability and willingness to use alternative methods of transportation to perform assigned duties and responsibilities at locations other than the primary worksite. If the applicant possesses or acquires a license, the applicant must provide or authorize Arlington County to obtain a copy of the applicant’s official state/district driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent on a favorable review of the applicant’s driving record

Work Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

This is a grant funded position and is contingent on funds.
