Position: Admitting Coord I

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Department Director or designee, the Admitting Coordinator I is responsible for processing in and out patients at the front desk , scheduling exams, verifying insurance information and patients’ demographics, and verifying proper orders for billing.

Licensure and Certification:

NA

Education:

High School graduate or GED equivalent

Experience:

Previous experience of at least one year in hospital or medical office setting

Medical terminology strongly preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

Computer literate and typing skills

Insurance billing preferred

Knowledge of all areas of diagnostic imaging including Cardiology and Pulmonary departments

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

Strong organizational skills

Problem solving skills

Basic computer skills

Physical Demands – Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care:

Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.

Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.

Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.

Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.

Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
