The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) position serves as a Consult Coordinator for Community Care within the Finger Lakes Health Care System. The role can be based at either Bath, NY, or Canandaigua, NY. The AMSA collaborates with healthcare team members, including providers, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, and behavioral health staff, to deliver interdisciplinary care.

The AMSA performs functions such as serving as an initial contact point for clinics and patients, scheduling appointments, reviewing electronic orders, and managing electronic medical records. The role requires knowledge of healthcare systems, medical terminology, and data entry, providing administrative support within an interdisciplinary care model. Responsibilities include managing secure messaging, participating in team meetings, prioritizing work, and ensuring patient readiness for appointments.
The AMSA also verifies patient information, manages scheduling, and communicates with care teams about patient needs.

Requirements Qualifications
Applicants pending completion of education or certification may be tentatively selected but will not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements
U.S. citizenship or eligible non-citizens as per VA policy
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Six months of clerical, office, customer service, or administrative experience, or one year of education above high school, or an equivalent combination
Grade Determinations
One year of experience comparable to GS-5 level, involving scheduling, verifying demographics, and participating in team huddles. Must demonstrate key KSAs including collaboration, organization, communication, and knowledge of healthcare processes and terminology.

Physical Requirements
This is an administrative role involving standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, lifting light objects, answering phones, and data entry.
