Assignments Coordinator Jobs in Boone, USA at Appalachian State University
Primary Purpose of Position:
This position will serve as the Assignments Coordinator for Administrative Services, coordinating all on‑campus housing assignments for approximately 6,300 students annually and 300 for summer.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process over 7,000 housing applications each academic year, managing assignment placements for the academic year and summer sessions.
- Maintain and update daily records and rosters, working directly with nine Housing Coordinators, thirteen Graduate Assistants, and 150 Resident Assistants.
- Communicate with coordinators, students, parents, and university departments regarding room changes, reapplication processes, and waiting list decisions.
- Prepare and administer billing, including debit/credit adjustments and forwarding information to Student Accounts; resolve discrepancy reports and adjust student accounts.
- Compile monthly occupancy reports for each residence hall and submit them to the Director and Associate Director and the UNC System.
- Maintain current administrative files and archive records regularly (e.g., late arrivals, academic ineligibility, amendments, private room requests, debit/credit sheets, waiting lists). Familiarity with the Housing License Contract and University Housing website is required.
- Use housing management systems and other technology platforms to complete all job duties efficiently.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
- Experience and working knowledge of college housing, including familiarity with Banner and other technology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated in application materials.
- Proficiency in customer service, especially interacting with faculty, staff, parents, and students.
- Ability to multitask, maintain focus on details, and run reports to support decisions.
- Knowledge of housing management systems, ability to analyze moderately complex business operations and financial statements, and experience making recommendations for approval.
- Preferred:
Associate’s degree or higher.
