Benefits Administrator – Baton Rouge, LA Jobs in Baton Rouge, LA at Turner Industries Group

Turner Industries Group is looking for a Benefits Administrator to join our Benefits team at our Corporate Office in Baton Rouge, LA. The benefits administrator will be expected to use knowledge and skills obtained through education, training and/or experience to assist in the administration of an assigned insurance plan or programs. Follow established procedures to perform a variety of tasks requiring moderate decision-making abilities. Resolve most questions and problems and refers new or unusual issues to management. Routine contact with internal customers, insurance carriers and/or third party administrators is required to obtain, clarify or provide facts and information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Serves as a regular contact for internal customers, insurance vendors and/or third party administrators.

Responds to employee inquiries in a prompt fashion via telephone, e-mail and other communication avenues.

Assists in determining best program options with insurance vendor representatives and/or third party administrators.

Coordinates transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and program administration.

Investigates discrepancies and provides information in non-routine situations.

Maintains records and prepares documents for implementation and maintenance of coverage.

Assists in coordinating procedures with other functional areas to initiate and maintain coverage.

Processes status reports and updates and maintains files.

Distributes insurance related materials, as required.

Maintains currency in the policies of assigned insurance area.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Company’s working structure, policies and strategies.

Principles, practices and procedures of administration of assigned insurance plan or program.

Microsoft Office and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne HR software.

Skill in:

Investigating discrepancies.

Maintaining records and preparing reports, documents and insurance filings.

Designing insurance related materials for internal customers.

Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets and databases.

Ability to:

Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.

Read, interpret, analyze and apply information from insurance related materials

Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Keep all appropriate parties up-to-date on decisions, changes and other relevant information.

Articulate reasoning behind actions.

Provide a high level of customer service.

Maintain strict confidentiality.

Maintain currency in all aspects of assigned insurance area.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.

Educational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience preferred.

Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by management.

Licenses/Certifications:

None required.

Hours: Normal business hours. Some additional hours may be required.
