OurBusiness Office Managersmanage the business office in accordance with Company policy, and state and federal regulations; and by using skills and experience in business and records management, title administration, leadership, risk management, human resources development, and professional development to provide excellent service to every customer. Fosters a sense of ownership in the business and pride in the administrative operations, manages costs in a disciplined and rational manner, and encourage profitable case volume and sales growth.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Function Oversight

Collections of all accounts receivable

Verifications and payments of all accounts payable invoices

Controls of receipt and deposit of cash payments received

Maintains petty cash account and disburses the same in accordance with company policies and procedures

Reconciliations of all accounts

Cash advance checks

Same Day Check requests

Bank deposits

Verifies/audits cash disbursement reports

Tracks Capital Expenditure Authorizations (CEAs)

Business Management

Manage all aspects of the administrative functions of the business, including funeral home operations, cemetery operations, sales, and memorial installation.

General accounting – Record, analyze, and report business transactions in accordance with GAAP in a timely and consistent manner.

Records management – Maintain Pre-Need business documents in a format that is available to support the At-Need functions and to resolve future questions. Effectively interprets and updates historical records when necessary.

Budget – Manage expenses within budgeted targets

Establish safeguards against fraud, waste, and inefficiency.

Customer service – Ensure that the Department provides the level of customer service to achieve SCI targets.

Policies & procedures – Ensure that written policies and procedures are current for all key business processes, and that staff is well informed and trained in them; ensure that any new policies and procedures comply with SCI guidelines.

Consultation — Provide proactive consultation for all functional areas regarding operational processes and financial results of strategies and tactics to ensure that corporate goals are achieved.

Reviews and interprets financial statements; identifies and understands significant variances and seeks to rectify issues with minimal oversight or direction.

Operational Activities

Orders supplies for the office and completes inventory counts

Coordinates the processing of orders and receipt of all merchandise orders including memorials and caskets and the control of storage inventory for vaults and markers, urns and caskets

Oversees the processing of installation funeral-related orders and orders to the grounds and maintenance departments

Supports location management to ensure all contracts and work orders are completed in a timely manner with proper documentation
