POSITION: Chiropractic Assistant

STATUS: Full Time, Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Sonora, California

POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support and help with clinical tasks to the Medical Department’s Chiropractic staff to ensure the practice runs smoothly. Assistants will provide quality and relational care to patients during all stages of their visits.

The position requires an awareness and keen appreciation of American Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs and the ability at all times to meet and deal effectively in contacts with Indian health organizations which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. CHIROPRACTOR SUPPORT: Provide direct support to assigned provider according to the standardized protocols and procedures established by MACT Health Board, Inc., including but not limited to:

1. Conduct visit preparation activities for the next day(s) visits;

2. Ensure all related reports, labs and information is attached and available in patients’ medical record (NextGen) prior to their appointment;

3. Clean exam room, lab and other patient areas between patient visits and after hours;

4. Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, O2 saturation and document all information in patient’s chart;

5. Assist provider with patient exam and procedures;

6. Assist with maintenance and inventory of medical equipment and supplies, and restocking of exam rooms.

7. Facilitate and log labs, X-rays, consults, referrals and other reports as needed.

8. Maintain infection control standards, including autoclaving instrument and logging of autoclave testing;

9. Take telephone calls and messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls;

10. Comply with all MACT policies and procedures at all times;

11. Must have excellent customer service at all times and maintain a positive attitude.

12. Other duties as assigned.

B. QUALITY ASSURANCE AND IMPROVEMENT:

1. Provide reports, as needed to the Medical Back Office Manager to be integrated into reports.

2. Participate in Departmental Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities;

3. Inventory and monthly check of emergency carts and supplies and do appropriate documentation;

4. Create recall lists, abnormal lab logs and high-risk lists;

5. Conduct monthly quality improvement reports and audits for HEDIS, GPRA and others as assigned;

6. Must adhere to the MACT Health Board, Inc. Corporate Code of Conduct;

7. Must be adept at NextGen EHR and complete I2I (population management) training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Current BLS AHA CPR certificate.

3. Chiropractic Assistant Certificate (preferred)

4. One year experience as a Chiropractic Assistant.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must pass Occupational Health Screening.

2. Must possess a valid form of identification as listed on the U.S. Department of Justice I-9 form, verified using the E Verify system.

3. Clean DMV driving record and MACT auto insurance driving eligibility (determined by auto insurance carrier).
