Role Purpose

To assume the role of Team Leader and contribute to the effective and efficient functioning of the Branch and business. The incumbent will be responsible for managing operational activities, processes, and systems to ensure the smooth running of Funds, while developing strong relationships with key stakeholders and leading a high-performing team.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3–5 years industry-related experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years leadership and/or management experience
  • Essential: Experience in administering and managing Full Fund Claims
  • Essential: Proven experience in presenting to Boards of Trustees, including the ability to explain fund performance, administration matters, and regulatory requirements clearly and professionally

Requirements

Education

  • Matric (NQF Level 4)
  • Successfully passed the AF and branch tests/assessments
  • Retirement Fund qualification or equivalent qualification completed or currently in progress

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' industry-related experience
  • Proven all-round claims administration experience across Pension and Provident Funds
  • Strong Pension Fund Administration experience, including contributions, reconciliations, fund allocations, transfers, and claims processing
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a team will be advantageous

Competencies

  • Sound knowledge of Compass and Alex systems (where applicable)
  • Strong understanding and application of Retirement Fund Rules
  • Ability to analyse complex data, identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with strong Outlook skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to build, coach, and manage teams (minimum of 3 direct reports)
  • Strong planning, organisational, and stakeholder management skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day administration of Pension and Provident Funds
  • Manage and maintain accurate fund allocations
  • Drive the elimination and resolution of PI Claims
  • Supervise and ensure the accuracy of monthly contribution reconciliations
  • Process and oversee all claim types, including bulk transfers where applicable
  • Review, check, and authorise claims in accordance with fund rules and service standards
  • Prepare and review monthly reports for client meetings
  • Ensure timely recognition and allocation of transfer documentation
  • Identify, load, review, and approve fund-related changes, including rates, fees, and expenses
  • Prepare information required for financial year-end processes
  • Review and act on risk and exception reports
  • Coach, develop, and support team members to achieve service delivery and operational excellence
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, fund rules, and internal controls
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and client service
