This position is assigned to the Central Region Office located in Raleigh, NC, Wake County and reports to the Assistant Region Director. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Providing receptionist duties to the Central Region Office as well as administrative duties for the Assistant Region Director.
Answering a multi-line phone system, greeting visitors, composing and typing correspondence, filing maintenance reports, processing mail, performing audit/inspection preparation and other duties as assigned.
Assisting other managers as needed.
Utilizing Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, & PowerPoint.
Delivering quality customer service to office staff, State employees, DAC Executive Management, offender’s family members, and the general public.
Utilizing good organizational skills.
Maintaining the upkeep/maintenance of the region’s State vehicles and should posses a valid Driver’s License.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.
As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $31,200 – $49,340.

The salary grade for this position is NC02 (Salary Range: $31,200 – $49,340). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About Central Region Office:
Central Region Office is 1 of 4 regional offices in the state of NC Department of Adult Correction – Institutions Division. Each regional office is charged with providing direction, guidance, and support to the prisons in its domain. The Central Region Office (CRO) maintains 14 correctional facilities spanning over several counties of the state.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following:
Documented experience answering a multi-line phone system.
Documented experience in both Microsoft Word and Excel.
Documented proof of a valid Driver’s License.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Division of Institutions is one of the divisions in DAC and employs a variety of staff, operates 56 institutions and is responsible for the care and custody of approximately 30,000 incarcerated individuals across North Carolina. Our division categorizes the institutions into 3 custody levels, which include minimum, medium, and close. The Division of Institutions has a duty to provide a secure and safe environment along with the proper care and supervision for every individual, in our custody.
