What You Will Do:

This is a dual role that supports the management of the Valley Health and state-level Continuing MedicalEducation(CME) Program/Graduate MedicalEducation(GME) Program and the Valley Health/Winchester Medical Center Institution Review Board (VH/WMC IRB). This position’s dual reporting responsibility is to the Supervisor of the Continuing MedicalEducationdepartment and to the Manager of the VHClinical ResearchDepartment, along with the WMC IRB Chairperson.

The role will also include administrative support to both reporting structures.
In order to support the Continuing MedicalEducationprogram, the coordinator is responsible for assessing the needs to develop and implement evidence based physician educational activities, regularly evaluating the effectiveness of CME activities based on physician performance, competence, or patient outcomes data, and communicating appropriately with representatives from the American College for Continuing MedicalEducation, Medical Society of Virginia, VHS Executive and Senior Executives, Service Line Directors, Departmental Managers, and educational partners.
Manages Valley Health and state-level Continuing MedicalEducationprogram needs assessments to develop and implement evidence-based physician educational activities. Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of CME activities based on physician performance, competence, or patient outcomes data. Communicates appropriately with representatives from the American College for Continuing MedicalEducation, Medical Society of Virginia, VHS Executive and Senior Executives, Service Line Directors, Departmental Managers, and educational partners.

In order to support the VH/WMC IRB, the Coordinator is responsible for providing regulatory expertise, guidance, and administrative support to VH/WMC IRB reviewing human subject research protocols, attaining and maintaining comprehensive andup-to-dateknowledge of human subject research protections and IRB regulations as contained in 45 CFR 46, 21 CFR 50 & 52, and other applicable federal and state regulations, and will serve as the subject matter expert by providing guidance and training to researchers, faculty, staff, students, and IRB members.

Serve as subject matter expert by educating, consulting, and guiding researchers, faculty, staff, and students in the design and conduct of human subject research to ensure compliance with federal, state, and Valley Health regulations. Educate and guide IRB members on the federal and state regulations and Valley Health policies governing human subject research. Preview research protocol submissions to ensure that individual research protocols involving human subjects are in compliance with all regulations and local policies.

Compose letters that accurately document the determinations of the IRB and describe any revisions required by the research team. Maintain IRS-required record keeping and prepare correspondences to the research teams, …
