This is a manufacturer of mining machinery components
Job Description
Your responsibilities will be the following:
- Conducting visual inspections on welded components and fabricated structures
- Inspecting work during fabrication and after completion
- Identifying welding defects and non-conformances
- Ensuring all fabrication complies with engineering drawings and specifications
- Monitoring welding quality and workmanship in the workshop
- Inspecting fit-ups before welding takes place
- Performing dimensional inspections using measuring equipment
- Completing quality inspection reports and checklists
- Ensuring welding procedures and quality standards are followed
- Liaising with welders, boilermakers, supervisors, and management regarding quality issues
- Verifying materials and consumables used during fabrication
- Assisting with NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and corrective actions
Qualifications
- Matric
- A formal quality inspection qualification
Skills
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar position within a heavy engineering background
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Knowledge of QA/QC procedures
- Understanding of fabrication standards and specifications
