Medical Office Assistant
Gastroenterology Office Practice in Brooklyn Heights, NY
Our practice is seeking an energetic, articulate, and self-motivated person for an Office Assistant position. This is a full-time (30 hours+ per week) position.
No previous medical office experience required,
Salary is negotiable.
This position is very customer-service oriented and requires that the individual possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in order to communicate pleasantly with patients, answer phones with courtesy, and collect payments with determination. Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Quickbooks would be a plus.. Billing/coding is not significant part of the position, however, you must be comfortable with discussing and handling payment directly with patients. Again, no previous medical office experience required; we are looking for candidates with a willingness to learn on the job.
Basic responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Interacting with patients (must be very polite in person and on the phone):
… Answering patient questions
… Scheduling appointments and procedures
… Collecting and following up on patient payments
Enter data for medical records
Preparing patient charts
Some assistance to doctor during minor patient procedures
Manage billing/collections with outsourced consultant
