A relief driver is required by the Medicine Hat Owner Operators to provide route coverage for vacation & personal days. Training will be provided for each route by the owner operator.
Position Summary
Load and unload boxes and envelopes as necessary.
Drive in a professional and alert manner while following and observing all legal requirements for road transport and safe vehicle operation.
Ensure vehicle & cargo securement at all times.
Use hand held scanning equipment professionally and accept responsibility for care and use of this device while driving at all times.
Scanning compliance and accuracy is mandatory.
Deliver and pick up customer parcels in a quick and efficient manner. Interact with customers in a professional manner.
Handled all freight with accuracy, efficiency and with care as to not damage.
Keep accurate and up to date records as required such as Vehicle Pre-Trip inspections, hours of service logs.
Material handling: repetitive lifting, handling of cartons, bags, envelopes.
Online training to be completed prior to starting in position: PDIC, TDG, WHMIS2015 & Violence in the Workplace.
Qualification:
Must pass a Criminal Background check.
Must have a valid and clean 5 year Commercial Drivers Abstract; Class 5 driver’s license – No Graduate License accepted.
Must be neat and tidy in appearance and possess strong communication skills. Uniform provided.
High school diploma, and health and safety knowledge is essential. Required PPE – safety footwear.
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and drive 1 ton cargo van proficiently.
Ability to work within a fast-paced environment.
Preference will be given to candidates with previous courier driving, warehouse experience and knowledge of Medicine Hat, Brooks and surrounding area.
