MAIN FUNCTION:

Responsible for administrative support to establish an efficient working environment for various Radiology modalities. This position involves the daily coordination of patient procedures within the assigned radiology section.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Coordinates and maintains daily schedule for patient appointments.

Maintains confidentiality at all times.

Facilitates patient, physician, and staff problems/complaints by phone, and in person in cooperation with the staff, Technical Specialist, and Managers.

Retrieves film folders and reports as needed for patient exams and dictations.

Screens incoming calls and relays messages and/or information appropriately.

Provides and/or coordinates administrative support for special projects as assigned by the Technical Specialists/Managers.

Prepares and processes forms and requisitions, as assigned.

Utilizes all Radiology IT systems as it relates to their specific modality to support departmental operations.

Maintains and stocks inventory of departmental supplies and makes recommendations regarding needs.

Adheres to established hospital/departmental/unit policies, procedures, objectives,quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.

Facilitates add-on patient scheduling.

Assists technologist with room “turnover”; cleans rooms, empties laundry, etc. as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Makes independent decision within the scope of defined job description.

Seeks guidance as necessary for performance of duties.

Demonstrates proper use of equipment and supplies according to established procedures.

Assures equipment is maintained in safe and proper working order.

Adheres to department/hospital policies and procedures in performing duties and assignments.

Assists in the preparations of reports, projects.

Organizes and retrieves images as needed.

Maintains supplies and equipment necessary for efficient office operation.

Utilizes the hospital’s computer system.

Answers phones, receives and relays messages accurately in a timely manner.

Acts as a liaison between radiology modalities and other hospital units to facilitate delivery of patient services.

Arranges patient transport to and from the radiology department.

Assures that patients are supervised and attended to while waiting for transport to and from exams.

Keeps patients informed when exams are delayed. Maintainscommunicationbetween patients and radiology staff.

Helps facilitate patient throughput by helping to clean/stock rooms and transporting/changing patients as necessary.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or equivalenteducation.

· 1-3 years previous customer service experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

· Organizational andmultitaskingskills required.

· Word processing skills (Microsoft office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint preferred).
