Director – Fire & Rescue Jobs in Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA at Sandhills Community College
Oversee training, certification, and professional development programs for potential and/or existing labor force for public services in our service area. Works closely with the Office of State Fire Marshall (OSFM) in establishing standard fire fighting classes and specialty classes for fire and rescue departments. Establishes in-service programs for fire and rescue personnel to meet OSFM requirements for certification and recertification programs.
Coordination of classes and academies, administrative and customer service support for the following programs:
Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management. Provide oversight and management of the Larry R. Caddell Public Safety Training Center (PSTC), including facilities policies & procedures, schedule, upkeep, and equipment. Develop programs, implement programs, and maintain activities at the PSTC and throughout Moore and Hoke Counties. Organize and implement the annual Sandhills Regional Fire and Rescue College. Provides administrative services for these programs.
Collaborate with other public safety programs and with Associate in Fire Protection Technology programs for continuity in training and educational opportunities. Serves as director of Fire/Rescue Training including:
Works closely with the Office of the State Fire Marshall in establishing standard fire fighting classes for fire and rescue departments; generates bi-monthly report to OSFM for student certification information, establishes in-service programs for fire and rescue personnel to meet requirements for certification and recertification programs; establishes and implements weekend and specialty programs for fire fighters.
Provide administrative support including: providing students with training records; assists in establishing in-service and specialty programs for fire & rescue personnel.
Coordinate, facilitate and oversee training operations at the Larry R. Caddell Training Center located on Niagara-Carthage Road in Carthage. Responsibilities include supervision of training activities and ensuring safety procedures for practical scenarios. Monitors instructor and student usage of burn building and drill tower as longevity could be compromised without proper use and care. Submit maintenance requests as needed for care of facility.
Maintain ongoing equipment/facility list of needs for program growth and training needs.
Work closely with Fire Academy Director to determine curriculum of program, schedule, and cadet success. Assist with administrative functions of academy. Assist with planning and completion of Fire Academy graduation.
Coordinate, facilitate and oversee implementation of High School Firefighter Academy. Work closely with Fire Administrators to determine curriculum of program, schedule, and student success. Assist with administrative functions of academy. Assist with planning and completion of Firefighter program.
Develop and maintain calendar of classes.
Attend monthly and quarterly chief’s association meetings and Seminar Committee meetings as needed. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to develop spreadsheets (grade sheets), flyers, letters, etc. Enter information and run reports in Colleague to include, but not limited to, building classes, registering students, grading and reporting.
Provides support, as needed, for continuing education and college initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
2 year Associates Degree
Experience in public safety
Preferred:
Experience in higher education
Qualified NCFRC Fire Service Instructor Level II
