About Coastal Regional Center
Coastal Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Under general supervision of Campus Support Director. The incumbent must be able to operate a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) switchboard. Greets the general public to provide accurate information and directions, and answers specific questions relevant to the Agency. Operates a two-way radio. Places long distance calls on request. Logs personal calls using outside line – logs incoming calls. Monitors computerized detection devices and provides notification to the Behavior Supports Coordinators and entire Agency when appropriate. Assist Behavior Supports Coordinators by taking and/or relaying messages. Collect and distribute all incoming and outgoing mail.
Data Entry Skills (must have current computer knowledge).
Communication Skills (must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing which includes allcustomers both inside the agency and outside the agency.
Clerical Skills (operator positions often require an individual to take care of many businesses aspects).
Other Skills which have significance in this position are patience dedication hard work and the ability to take direction verbally and in writing.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
High School Diploma and at least one (1) year of clerical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of agency directives, Coastal Center procedures and ICF-IID regulations, with emphasis on those relating to abuse, neglect, exploitation, critical incidents, and consumer rights. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential. Ability to complete time sensitive reports that are accurate and thorough. Good computer and interpersonal skills are required.
Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures. Knowledge of the methods and maintenance of microfilm photography and equipment. Knowledge of food handling practices and sanitation requirements. Knowledge of the policies, laws and procedures for the utilization, processing, maintenance and storage of vital records. Skill in the operation of broadcasting and taping equipment. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to exercise limited discretion in interpreting and applying office practices and procedures. Ability to proofread written materials.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State’s Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
