Under the supervision of the Administrative Manager, the Public Health Administrative (PHA) Specialist will meet, interview, and direct public health clients in accordance with the services of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Preventive Health (PH), and Immunization (IZ) programs abiding agency policies and procedures. The PHA will provide quality customer service while maintaining confidentiality.
Clinical Duties:
Meet, interview, and direct public health clients in accordance with the WIC, PH, and IZ programs and agency policies; review all program requirements to educate clients on program standards.
Answer telephone calls to assist and schedule appointments entering all client information in the SCWIC and Electronic Health Records (EHR) as needed for current and new clients; process information, complete medical records, and enter all client information into SCWIC, EHR and Private Pay as mandated.
Complete data collection and entry into SCWIC, validate and issue food instruments (FI) and Farmer’s Market checks; this position may require standing for long periods of time and periodic lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
Attend relevant program and agency training and meeting; ensure necessary materials are properly utilized; and prepare and submit any required reports.
Emergency Preparedness:
In accordance with the State’s Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DPH employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements:A high school diploma or GED; related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements:
Two (2) years of medical office and clinical clerical office experience which includes public contact or an Associates’ Degree in Secretarial Science; or a related field and one (1) year of medical office and or clinical clerical office experience.
Must have advanced computer skills and office equipment knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish/English; one (1) year experience with electronic health and or medical records; and one (1) year experience with other third party insurance billing.

DRIVING RECORD:If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
