Your impact
Jacobs’ Burnaby, British Columbia office has an immediate need for a Project Assistant. This position will assist the local Project Manager and project team directly. This role will be assigned to the Burnaby office located at Metrotown, and will be in office, 5-days’ a week.
As a Project Assistant (PA), you’ll be responsible for supporting day-to-day project activities. You’ll play a critical role in the success of our project team overseeing daily administration needs, communications, project support functions, and Project Manager-assigned tasks. You may also provide a wide variety of administrative and staff support services, as needed. Using your experience, you’ll be comfortable interfacing with project managers, engineers, operators and executives.
This is an entry level customer service position with the intention to prepare you to work with minimal supervision, multitask effectively, use independent judgment, and have the initiative to take on new tasks and challenges. You’ll use your experience-based judgment to evaluate situations and develop solutions and work with minimal oversight to achieve assignment outcomes and manage your workload. Your work is frequently complex, proprietary, and confidential, and requires strong administrative skills as well as excellent inter-personal and team communication skills.
Though this is an entry level project position, there is room for growth and opportunities.
Some examples of daily work may include, but are not limited to, the following
- Setting up Conference Rooms for meetings
- Ensuring technology is set up on time and properly so meetings run smoothly
- Ordering catering, setting up and cleaning up lunches
- Scheduling meeting rooms
- Reserving workstations for guests
- Create Budget Summary reports with Excel
- Basic understanding of project budgeting
- Be able to communicate clearly with sub-consultants and clients
- Knowledge of the project life cycle
- Point of contact during the project
Here's what you'll need
- 2–4 years of relevant professional experience
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, balance competing deadlines, and work effectively with minimal supervision
- Proven interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally with clients and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and proactive approach, with a willingness to support where needed
- Proficiency with standard desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
- Ability to maintain a consistent and reliable work schedule
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to anticipate needs and prepare accordingly
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, including adherence to safety protocols on project sites
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Background in design, engineering, or construction environments
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam

50,000.00
Posted Salary Range Upper
70,000.00
The base salary range for this position is $50,000.00 to $70,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs Workplace on a full-time basis, as required by the nature of their role.
