Description
The Health and Life Insurance and Managed Care Division of the Department of Insurance, regulates insurance companies and health maintenance organizations offering various types of health and life insurance products. Through application of statutory requirements, the branch reviews policy forms, certificates, applications, rate filings, life settlements contracts and other forms as necessary to assure that the health and life products being offered in Kentucky meet the applicable statutory and regulatory standards.

We are looking for an Administrative Specialist Senior to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Administrative Specialist Senior, you will provide high-level professional administrative support to internal staff and leadership related to an agency’s business operations. Perform duties in the oversight of intricate processes such as activities nvolving mandated regulations or procedures, comprehensive research, or collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; and performs other duties as required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides high level professional administrative support to the Division of Health and Life Insurance and Managed Care.
Performs in-depth reviews of complex Medicare Supplement and Long-term care insurance filings to ensure all initial filing criteria is met in accordance with state insurance laws.
Interprets laws, rules and regulations and departmental policy for insurance companies and the general public.
Identifies areas of non-compliance of complex filings.
Contact filers to obtain additional information or data requirements.
Enters data from form filings into multiple Division databases and assigns filings to insurance policy specialists.
Compiles research and summaries into complex reporting requirements for the Division.
Oversees required insurer reporting.
Completes data entry and research of information and updates for publications.
Recommends policies for the division regarding complex health programs.
Interprets departmental policy to the public and departmental employees via telephone and email.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
