Description
The Division of Consumer Protection was created within the Department of Insurance in 1998 to offer assistance to consumers with insurance-related issues. The division is responsible for handling consumer complaints against health, life, auto, homeowners and commercial insurance. The division also takes complaints regarding the actions of an agent or agency.
We are looking for an Administrative Specialist Senior to join our team of highly skilled professionals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides high-level professional administrative support to the Consumer Protection Division. Plans and organize functions for the Division; data correction, task assignments, managing open records, and file maintenance.
Facilitates the process of Open Record requests and serves as the designated eService contact. Integrates insurance companies into the eService framework. Ensures the agency database reflects the latest information from insurance companies. Contacts insurance providers to gather updates on information required by the state.
Performs functions that affect a range of complex organizational components, focusing on the development and enhancement of processes related to Consumer Protection. Receives and returns consumer and insurance companies calls. Reviews and prepares records and reports for agency requirements.
Interprets departmental in-depth policies to the public and departmental employees. Orders supplies for staff, maintains inventory and coordinates with department inventory officer as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
