Position Description
The Administrative Assistant will represent Human Resources in various capacities by communicating information, processing requests and maintaining employee records. Provides administrative support required to fulfill the Human Resource needs of the Elections Department in the Harris County Clerk’s Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the daily workflow of Human Resources within the Elections Department by handling requests that are received via telephone calls and in-person visits. This includes but is not limited to: badge, key, alarm code, and Metro card requests; direct deposit, address, beneficiary and insurance changes.
Support and assist management in the recruiting and hiring process. This includes but is not limited to job postings, reviewing and forwarding applications to management, scheduling interviews, conducting background checks and coordinating drug screenings.
Assist and process time sheets for temporary employees.
Assist and process payroll for Election Workers.
Assist election staff with various tasks as needed.

Requirements

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
At least one (1) year of Human Resources experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
Must be able to work overtime without prior notice and work flexible hours as required.
Must be willing to travel to any destination required to participate or assist with office projects (such as Elections).
Must be able to work without direct supervision, have good analytical and organizational skills and must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Monday – Friday | 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.
Overtime during Election cycles.
Salary:
$21.00 Hourly
Based on 26 Pay Periods

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files up to 10 pounds, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
