Position:  Fingerprint Technician (part-time)

Non-exempt; part-time; 15 hours per week; rotating schedule on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; no benefits with exception to sick and safe leave accrual.

This technical position is responsible for civilian, applicant fingerprinting three days a week in the lobby of the Law Enforcement Center. This is not a forensics position. Civilian customers receive applicant fingerprinting for various certifications like child care, government licensing, nursing, HQL and handgun permits, etc. This position receives supervision from the Support Services Commander.

Responsibilities:

Perform both ink and Live Scan fingerprinting services for civilian customers.

Collect fees and maintain reports for billing.

Make computer entries into the CJIS system.

Provide professional customer service to walk-in and scheduled applicants.

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

High school diploma or the equivalency.

Minimum 21 years of age at time of application.

Possession of CJIS certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of hire.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Working knowledge of Sheriff’s Office policies related to position.

Ability to effectively access and utilize data management systems and equipment.

Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Ability to work independently and to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.

Strong clerical skills including the usage of and data entry into a computer and the ability to accurately maintain billing reports.

Strong and effective written and spoken (English) communication skills, including the ability to read print and electronic materials.

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:

Law enforcement background.

Working Conditions:

While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly perform repetitive motions and reach; frequently sit, walk, and lift up to 20 pounds; occasionally climb and push up to 40 pounds.

While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work indoors; frequently work in confined spaces; and occasionally work in noisy environments.

Available to work varied weekday hours.

Subject to random drug testing.
