Responsibilities

This position is responsible for oversight of highly specialized and complex contracts/grants management at the COM and serves as a subject matter expert for grants administration.

Manages administrative, financial, and compliance tasks associated with assigned sponsored projects for the College of Medicine (COM). Directs project management activities and establishes new awards, amendments, subcontracts, and re-budgets in the RAMP and COM internal systems. Examines, verifies, compiles, and analyzes the financials of sponsored projects to ensure their accuracy and adherence to the award’s terms/conditions. Responsible for accurately accounting and reporting grant activity to the appropriate federal, state, private, and accrediting agencies. Completes departmental reports and final reports for funding agencies. Functions as a liaison between COM departments and funding agencies. Works closely with COM personnel, university offices and departments, and external agencies. Ensures accuracy of financial reporting, FACET, and compliance with college, university, and
sponsor policies and procedures.
Provides guidance in the interpretation of intramural and extramural fiscal and administrative policies and procedures, in particular OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and Florida Health grant administration. Maintains awareness of revisions to federal, state, and university regulations governing purchasing, travel, allowable grant expenditures, personnel, and payroll activities. Assists in the creation and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines for sponsored research activities in order to remain compliant with internal and external requirements.
Regularly communicates with COM principal investigators regarding contract/grant budgets, financials, and award status. Maintains internal effort reports and determines how faculty and staff should be appointed to projects to assure agency, FSU, and COM compliance. As needed, initiates financial and payroll corrections.
Serves as COM budget authority on sponsored projects. Approves all HR, travel, and procurement transactions. Acts as a liaison and develops and maintains effective communication and positive work relationships with COM principal
investigators, COM departmental support staff, the FSU Office of Research, and other university departments and sponsors. Effectively facilitates research activities of the college, working with university departments and federal, state, and private partners.
Promotes an atmosphere of teamwork in accomplishing the mission and goals of Research Accounting, including participating in the completion of special projects and meeting key departmental deadlines. Participates in sponsored research training activities for departmental administrative and accounting staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and four years experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to eight years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

Anticipated Salary Range

Starting Salary is $58,500, commensurate with education and experience.
